The Sony A200 has only one CompactFlash memory card slot compatible with cards with a capacity of 32 GB or less. An error will occur if you try to use a card with a larger storage capacity.
The card size cap is because the Sony A200 uses the FAT32 file system.
< p>The Sony A200 is limited to much smaller memory cards than what is currently offered. Due to limited storage capacity, the only specs that will make a noticeable difference between memory cards are read and write speeds. The faster the transfer speed of a CF card, the less time you will spend waiting for files to transfer.Approximate time required to transfer 32GB:
160MB/s - 3 minutes 45 seconds
120 MB/s - 5 mins
50 MB/s - 12 mins
This is my recommendation for the best memory card for the Sony A200:< /p>
SanDisk Extreme 32GB CF Card
Read speed up to 120MB/s.
Write speed up to 85MB/s.
Water, X-ray, & impact resistant.

The most advantageous Compact Flash card will be 16GB or 32GB. Smaller or larger cards will have lower value per GB.
A pro card doesn't add much to the cost. Having a fast card will eliminate the need to replace the card with a camera upgrade.

CF cards are available in two different sizes. Cards are called Type I or Type II.
The only difference between card types is the thickness. The width and length of the cards are identical.
Type I
- 3.3mm thick
Type II
- 5 mm thick< /p>
Type II specs were thicker, so Microdrives could be used in the Sony A200. A Microdrive was a small mechanical hard drive.
When Compact Flash memory cards were first released, they had high prices and very small storage capacities. Microdrives made it possible to achieve large storage sizes.
Microdrives are no longer manufactured. Because they were mechanical, failure was a matter of time. You can't even find them used.
Another use for the Type II slot is for Compact Flash card adapters. There are adapters that will allow you to use SD or Micro SD cards in a Compact Flash slot.
There is a bright blue LED that bothered me. It is now covered with tape.
the
UGreen 4-in-1 Memory Card Reader
supports four different types of memory cards. These include everything the camera makers use in all but their latest pro level cameras.
The UGREEN memory card reader has a USB 3.0 connection. The card reader's USB 3.0 transfer speeds will be faster transfer speeds than the Sony A200 is capable of transferring files with USB mode.
There are many reader-friendly customer reviews that I agree with. I would recommend it as the drive is compatible with all computers (Windows, Mac and Linux) I have plugged it into.
The cable prevents the card slots from interfering with other devices or accessories used in a nearby port.
When I was looking for a more compact and lightweight card reader for travel, I had to send back a few orders. I've encountered the most common issue seen in customer reviews, drives not working with my computer.
The card reader supports the following memory cards:
CompactFlash Cards
SD, SDHC, & SDXC Cards (UHS-I support)
Memory Stick (MS), MS Pro, MS PRO-HG, & MS XC DUO
MicroSD, Micro SDHC, & Micro SDXC Cards
One of the common errors with cameras that use Compact Flash cards are bent card slot pins. If a pin is bent, you might see an "Unable to use card" error message.
To avoid bending the pins, do not force a Compact Flash memory card into the Sony A200. The extra space for a Type II card allows a CF memory card to be misaligned.
If the CF card does not slide effortlessly into the camera slot, remove it and check the positioning of the memory card. Also check if the card or slot is damaged.
If everything looks fine, carefully align the CF card and try again.
