This is one of the first lenses in the A-mount intro for autofocus. Due to its age, autofocus is controlled by the A100's built-in motor.
Physically coupled autofocus can be slow and somewhat noisy. That said, if that's not a problem for you, the result is great. You will get a classic look and attractive bokeh.
Another big advantage of the Minolta 50mm is its price. It's considerably cheaper than the Sony 50mm f/1.8 and on top of that it might be the cheapest option listed.
It's also aided by taking advantage of the A100's Super SteadyShot stabilization. p>

Slightly faster than the Minolta or Sony f/1.8, which will give the A100 a brighter viewfinder in low light. This naturally leads to an increased cost.
It's still a lightweight and relatively small lens that fits nicely on the A100 and fits into virtually any camera bag.
A potentially cheaper lens The solution is the
Minolta AF 50mm f/1.4
. Keep in mind that copies can be difficult to buy in usable condition. This design has physically coupled autofocus, which is slower and stronger than lenses with built-in motors.

ZA
(Zeiss Alpha) says Zeiss designed the lens exclusively for A-mount DSLR cameras.
This optical performance is incredible. Sharpen photos from corner to corner with brilliant colors that produce stunning portraits.
The potential downsides are that it's a bit heavy since it's built like a tank and it can feel slow to autofocus at times. Remember that you will experience similar issues with any 85mm f/1.4 lens.

Rokinon is an easy-to-find budget choice. The cost savings come from the fact that it is a manual focus. It also has a lot of weight because the large opening requires large elements.
At f/1.4, manual focus will take some practice. Closing the aperture to f/2 or f/1.8 helps make focusing less difficult and you'll still get beautiful bokeh.

In terms of price, this lens sits between the others. Obtaining a used lens in good used condition can be difficult due to the low quantity available.
Although the lens has autofocus, it is driven by the in-body motor that uses a physical coupler. This means the lens autofocus will be slow and quite noisy.

Prices change regularly. Over the past two years, participation in film photography has increased. Since there is Minolta 35mm c For cameras that use the A-mount, there is some upward pressure added to the price of A100 lenses.
The A-mount doesn't have a big market share either. For this reason, there are fewer third-party options and lenses for Sony Alpha are often out of stock.
To get the cheapest price on what you want to buy, check prices on different websites. For used lenses, be prepared to pay when you find a bargain as they don't last long.
The Sony A100 uses the Sony A mount.
It is also identical to the Minolta A mount. This is due to Sony's acquisition of Konica Minolta's imaging division in 2006.
Minolta developed the A-mount for the release of autofocus interchangeable lens cameras in 1985. It is still supported by Sony.
Standard lens cap size
Usually 55mm, but the filter sizes are really inconsistent. Previous Minolta lenses tend to have 49mm filter threads.
Additionally, there are a number of lenses that have filter threads larger than 55mm. It's not hard to find 77m or 72mm filter threads. It would have been nice if Sony only used 2 or 3 different filter sizes.
