- upwards, the titular model being the most affordable and the least efficient of the trio. In this article, we compare the known details of this device with our evaluation of the

, which we put through our rigorous review process, giving you our first verdict on the match between the two handsets.

iPhone 11 vs Samsung Galaxy S10 – Specs and Features
< p> The iPhone 11 has a dual camera, consisting of a main wide-angle lens and a 120-degree ultra wide-angle lens. The primary sensor appears to be very similar to that of the iPhone XR, which we rated as equal to the iPhone XS in most qualities except Portrait mode. The ultra-wide-angle lens should add welcome versatility to this setup, and in Apple's demo it seemed very simple to switch between the two in the camera app.The Samsung Galaxy S10 goes one step further, with a total of three camera sensors: a 12-megapixel main snapper with variable aperture, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide unit and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. We rated it as a fantastic all-around camera system that was a definite improvement over the
Samsung Galaxy S9
, but which was still lagging behind the
Google Pixel 3< /p>
, especially in low-light situations.
Based on the specs, there's no clear winner between these two devices - both seem to offer a very good camera, and it's only in the review that we'll be able to pick a winner.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 runs on an Exynos 9820 chip, which we found capable of running intensive apps smoothly and multitasking efficiently. In comparison, the iPhone 11 has the new chip
A13 Bionic
and from what we've heard so far, we expect it to perform the best. The A12 Bionic in the iPhone XS outperformed the Samsung Galaxy S10 in our benchmark tests, and Apple claimed the A13 Bionic chip is 6x faster. Based on this evidence, we strongly expect the iPhone 11 to outperform the S10 in performance.
iPhone 11 vs Samsung Galaxy S10 – Design and Display
There was little information in Apple's presentation about the iPhone 11 screen, and there's a reason for that: it's nearly identical to the iPhone XR. Measuring 6.1-inches diagonally, it's an LCD screen that comes with a resolution of 828 x 1792, which is barely above 720p. This puts it up against most of the competition in its price range, however, in our experience the screen would be a good upgrade if you are upgrading from a

.
We've identified the Samsung Galaxy S10's display as one of its biggest selling points. It's the same size as the iPhone 11's screen, but it's AMOLED rather than LCD and has a much higher resolution of 3040 x 1440 with HDR10+ support. It is bright, colorful and easily readable in direct sunlight. So we expect the Galaxy S10 to comfortably win this contest.
In this, as in many ways, the iPhone 11 strongly resembles the iPhone XR. The wide notch returns again and it's starting to look a little dated compared to innovative Android flagships with teardrop notches or pop-up cameras. The most notable new touch added to the device is controversial: a much larger, square-shaped camera bump. This looks particularly incongruous on the iPhone 11 since the module design leaves wasted space that could otherwise house another lens just like the iPhone 11 Pro. On the other hand, the device is available in six shades: yellow, purple, black, white, green and (PRODUCT)RED.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 device looks much more modern thanks to its small and discreet cutout camera notch in the screen. The back of the device is also available with an attractive pearlescent finish. However, a potential negative is the curvature of the screen at the sides, which sometimes registered accidental contact with a palm press - an unnecessary irritation. But from what we've seen so far, the Samsung Galaxy S10 offers a more attractive design.
iPhone 11 vs Samsung Galaxy S10 - Price
The iPhone 11 is priced at £729 (for 64GB storage), while the Samsung Galaxy S10 was available from £799 (for 128GB storage) at launch. The base iPhone 11 model might be cheaper, but 64GB is a pretty meager amount of storage; but the 128GB variants cost £779, which is still a bit cheaper than Samsung's, so it's clearly the option to go for if you want to save a bit of cash.
iPhone 11 vs Samsung Galaxy S10 - Early Verdict
It's hard to recommend one over the other at this point, as we haven't yet given the iPhone 11 our full review. But we can already see that the competition between these two models will be very intense: the Samsung Galaxy S10 has the advantage when it comes to display and design, but the iPhone 11 should have superior performance and a little cheaper too. The deciding factor might come down to camera performance, but clearly both devices are powerful smartphones and are likely to serve you well.
