The popularity of
tablets
continues to grow, with recent reports suggesting sales hit record highs during the pandemic. The versatility of these devices has led to an increase in PCs and
laptop
which can display in both landscape and portrait mode.
It may also be why we're seeing smartphones with flexible screen technology that can fold out into a tablet. Either way, it's a capability now demanded by most PC and laptop users.

How to speed up Windows 10
You may already own a laptop or
a monitor
which can switch between the two modes. But otherwise, it's relatively simple to rotate the display and can often help with productivity or even give you a better view for a video call. Just follow a few simple steps.
How to Rotate a Windows PC or Laptop with the Keyboard
For
Windows 7
Devices, Windows 8 or
Windows 10
, the keyboard can be used to switch between landscape and portrait orientation. You may need to use orientation lock here because sometimes the display will automatically change if it detects a change.
Use the Ctrl and Alt keys along with one of the arrow keys to rotate your display 90, 180, or even 170 degrees. The screen darkens for a second before displaying your preferred setting. To go back, just press Ctrl+Alt+Up.
If you don't want to use your keyboard, you can opt for the control panel. In Windows 7, go to “Appearance and Personalization”, then “Display and Screen Resolution”. Here you can change all your screens (if you are using more than one monitor) to landscape or portrait.
Use Control Panel to Rotate a PC or Laptop Screen
If using the keyboard isn't appealing, you can rotate the display in Windows through the Control Panel. In Windows 7, type Control Panel in the search bar, then Appearance and Personalization, Display and Screen Resolution. Click on the screen you want to change (if you have multiple monitors) and change the orientation between Landscape and Portrait. To rotate the screen, select Landscape (inverted) or Portrait (inverted).
Alternatively, for
Windows 10
, you can click the Windows icon ( Start button) in the lower left corner. Then click the Settings icon (which looks like a small cog), then click View. In the menu to the right of the Settings window, find the option called "Orientation", then you can set it to Landscape or Portrait.

Using the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel to Rotate a Display
The Graphics Card Control Panel can also be used to rotate the display on your PC or laptop.
These graphics cards have system tray icons that you can click to bring up the control panel. Alternatively, you can right-click on the desktop and from the context menu you can select Graphics Properties.
Click on it to display the graphics card control panel. This will have a host of options that change the characteristics of the display. In a "View or Desktop" menu icon, there should also be an option to change the display rotation to 90, 180, and 270 degrees (as well as zero to return to normal).
< p>With different graphics card manufacturers things will be slightly different but the principle remains largely the same. Some research will uncover the option you need to rotate the screen of the laptop or PC.monitors
