The camera was easy to set up and use. It has the ability to define zones so that the ceiling fan or other normally moving objects do not trigger the motion sensor. Motion sensitivity is mixed. It works better when the lights are on than when they are off. This morning he picked me up putting my shoes on the couch with the lights on. Tonight he didn't see me walking behind the couch to my office with the lights off. It wasn't a distance issue, or the fact that I was behind the couch. The camera had a clear image of me directly in front of it, walking along my couch. My next problem is registration. It records in 1 minute increments. If there are 20 minutes of motion, you get 20 one-minute clips. Not ideal. Image quality is average. Considering the wide angle of the lens, that's not bad. Although you can zoom in on the video to see something, the detail isn't there. The camera could have two uses as I see it. First, you place it somewhere where the activity will be closer to the camera in order to capture usable detail. Second, you place the camera in a location that allows you to view a very wide area, capture everything, and rely on other cameras for detail. Want to see who's raiding the pantry at night and what they're taking? It has you covered if you place it near the action. Want to see the whole living room, kitchen and front hallway? He's got you covered there too. From my coat, I can see all of this, and even part of the dining room. Distortion reduction is good considering the camera's wide angle. I appreciate that it can use 5 GHz. I no longer buy 2.4Ghz WiFi products. That I go for Zigbee, bluetooth, etc. I like being able to turn the camera light on or off. This way I can alert people that they are being recorded or turn it off so I don't bother my wife with the light. I'm not very impressed with the microphone. My son could understand me very well, but I had a hard time understanding him, even after he got close to the camera. In the end. I bought it to experiment with. I have uses for this, but for primary security I'll use something else. It's good for simple security and notifications if we're out of the house. It's good for the maid or house keeper. It's good for the cookie thief. It's only ok for security monitoring. I think this product will improve over time, but so far my use is limited.
