The FX3's full-frame image sensor is combined with innovative light-gathering techniques to help you capture clear, usable images even in low light. The standard ISO sensitivity of 80 to 102400 for movies is expandable up to 409600.

S-Cinetone color, developed for Sony's acclaimed FX9, is the default color watch on the FX3 for cinematic expression. It's precisely tuned to meet the demands of today's content creators, with rich colors and natural skin tones that match other non-dimming Cinema Line cameras.

4K 120fps with every frame in focus

Even at high frame rates, detailed 4K images are captured thanks to the FX3's high-precision AF and high-speed playback capabilities. Slow and Quick (S&Q) mode gives you full control over the frame rate, for beautiful motion sequences up to 5x slow motion (with 24p output).

10-bit S-Log3 and HDR recording for smooth gradations

S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine gamma curve allow shooting with high quality color reproduction over a wide dynamic range, and they make it easier to match footage with shots from other cinemas Line cameras during post -production. Additionally, an HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) HDR picture profile enables direct HDR (HLG) playback on compatible TVs without post-production.

16-bit HDMI RAW output

For demanding post-production workflows, 16-bit RAW output is available via HDMI connection to compatible external recorders, while XAVC HS 4K, XAVC S 4K or XAVC SI 4K and proxy files are captured simultaneously in-camera photo. The RAW video output has a resolution of 4264 x 2408 [16:9], exceeding DCI-4K resolution.

Enjoy rich detail and lifelike colors

The FX3 is capable of recording in 4K, 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling with All Intra in addition to Long-GOP compression. This allows you to push your color nuances further while maintaining a natural gradation, for true editing freedom.

Sophisticated tracking AF for stable focus

Sophisticated tracking features keep your subject in focus so you can focus on composing. Real-time Eye AF ensures precise focus on the face and eyes, while real-time tracking is powered by Sony's unique AI-based subject recognition algorithms.

Smooth transitions and touch focus control

The FX3 includes AF transition speed in seven settings, for easily creating rack focus, and five AF subject shift sensitivity settings, which allow the user to customize how easily the AF will switch or will remain with the topic locked. You can also select the subject you want to focus on just by touching the LCD screen.

High performance E-mount lenses for movies

Enjoy smooth, responsive autofocus with Sony's E-. lens mount, with high-end optical performance and operability for challenging cinematographic applications. The main body and covers are constructed from a lightweight magnesium alloy to improve durability and performance even in harsh environments.

Detachable XLR handle

A handle equipped with an XLR adapter with two full-size XLR terminals can be attached to the camera's Multi Interface (MI) shoe for more comfortable and stable camera work in difficult shooting situations , such as low-position shots.

In-camera image stabilization

Active mode is a built-in 5-axis optical image stabilization system that provides increased stabilization for video recording. To preserve image quality, the gyroscope sensor accurately measures camera shake and compensates optically. This enables stable video even when shooting handheld without gimbal use, while walking and at 4K resolution.

Image stabilization and easier editing with Catalyst

Camera shake metadata is recorded by the built-in gyroscope, helping to smooth and stabilize handheld footage in post-production. Using Sony's Catalyst Browse / Catalyst Prepare desktop application, you can easily balance the automated levels of shake compensation and image cropping. Catalyst can also make efficient use of recorded camera rotation data.

Extensibility and operability for content creators

Front and rear signal lights

Indicator lights on the front and back of the FX3 indicate whether the camera is recording at any given time. They are clearly visible to both the camera operator and the person playing in front of the camera.

Vari-angle LCD touchscreen

The Type 3.0 (1.44 million dots) LCD touchscreen panel features a side-opening design to allow flexible positioning and better visibility when the camera is mounted on gimbals. Touchscreen support also offers intuitive menu control for many camera settings.

Essential controls for effective solo shooting

In addition to six customizable buttons, frequently used controls are easily accessible with just one hand to reach, leaving your other hand free for lens operation or balance. And usability is enhanced by multiple screw holes on the body and handle, allowing accessories to be attached directly.

Uninterrupted 4K/60p recording

For uninterrupted 4K/60p recording, the FX3 is designed with an innovative heat dissipation system. Heatsink placement, airflow structure, and a quiet cooling fan work to optimize cooling even during long shoots.

XLR adapter and digital input for quality sound

In addition to the handy built-in camera microphone, a variety of professional microphones can be connected externally via the full-size XLR connectors on the handle via a digital audio interface via a Multi Interface (MI) shoe. Three recording formats can be selected, including 24-bit 4-channel. Digital audio recording is also possible by attaching a digital microphone such as the ECM-B1M even when the grip is not in use.

Two high-speed media slots

Designed for next-generation filming requirements, CFexpress Type A cards support high-speed recording. The camera slots are ready for CFexpress Type A as well as conventional UHS-I and UHS-II SDXC cards, and having two identical media slots allows for relay or backup shooting.
