I won't bore you by repeating the stats and features that many contributors do. I needed this camera for my trip to Germany in the fall, I have two other SONY cameras the A77 and A99 which are full size DSLRs with two pieces of Carl Zeiss glass and lots of toys. Considering we will be in Europe for 21 days, weight has become an issue. My full frame and my full size SONY with extra battery holders and the glass were just too big. Great cameras for what I'm doing here in the US. 21 days, one suitcase, I'm going light. Plus I have an adapter that allows alpha lenses on NEX size bodies. Going through castles and churches, Photokina and Octoberfest, I wanted a small one with interchangeable lenses, the full kit with the 12mm, 16mm, 18-55, 55-200 weighs less than a unit of the bigger size. This type of travel is a wide-angle country. I've owned a camera store, a full lab, and still the CEO of the "Black Box Company". I was and sometimes still am a professional photographer with Nikon, Canon and Bronica systems for 50 years. When I finally retired, I got interested in SONY and retired all my other equipment. I had a lot of them, it got me a new car. People don't know that SONY makes the chips and motherboards for the others mentioned and the test results we did with the camera and optics, especially in the big ones with amazing low light and little or not Distortion. Color rendering showed no red or blue fringing I've noticed with other products, even when pushing 20-30 in our lab from a camera under $400.00. So far we've been blown away with the results, fit and finish, but the images we've processed and enlarged have been outstanding. One of the magazine's editors said the viewfinder wasn't precise enough (pixel count), but I had no problems. If that's their main downside, they must have looked awfully hard to find. Most of the reviews, even in the magazines (advertising buckets, we call them) are for Canon or Nikon and I ignore many of their comments. 50 years of repair, none of the manufacturers mentioned have reached sainthood, they all had their quirks and we made a strong repair business. situation.
