My first order of the HX99 was bad. Volume/sound did not play, handle fell off. This was returned to the seller. The 2nd one I ordered on eBay. This camera is good/ok at a lot of things but not great at anything. I've owned/owned a bunch of Sony full frame, APS-C and Sony 1" cameras. gives you a ton of flexibility. it looks a lot like the full frame Sony 24-240 F3.5-6.3 lens that I thought I'd hate considering I own G Master lenses. Don't overlook the benefit of a pocket-sized, 24-720 zoom range, with a selfie screen. It's a combination of GoPro video quality, level of FDR-X3000 stabilization at 1080p 60fps, contrast-based autofocus and face detection for this class of camera is inherently far better than the iPhone, and will crush any infinity-focused action camera like GoPro, Yi, etc. It is versatile and the user will have more control over their setting than action camera and mobile phone. You will get decent bokeh with compression only because the lens is a F3.5 slow on the wide end. For Vloggers, at arm's length and 24mm, decent bokeh thanks to compression. And when you move the camera away from your face and the camera is pointed at an object of interest, focus is smooth via autofocus. camera with amazing zoom range. However, anything over 300-400mm, the need for a tripod, monopod, gimbal increases dramatically. Now the inherent "bad" Lowlight - My comparison is using cellphones and GoPros, and like cellphones and GoPros, it will suffer from low light for video. Photos are fine if you use flash and the shutter is weak. For video, cap the ISO at 800. Anything above that and you'll have to denoise the footage to post.build quality - I own the RX100 V and VI and the HX99 looks cheap compared to the RX100 cameras. But I'll be honest, I keep my camera gear and sometimes even taking the RX100 V or VI I'm worried they'll get damaged on the way to the beach or in inclement weather. , GoPro and overall better usability with an insane useful zoom range for travel or outdoor, well-lit events......this camera is what you need. If low light is essential, then look elsewhere. It will perform slightly better in low light compared to your cell phone or GoPro.
